Assoc. Pastor Dick & Bea Baker

Hello! My name is Dick Baker and I am presently blessed to serve as
Associate Pastor for First Baptist Church, New Haven, IN.
I have a precious wife of 43 years, my wife Bea. She is the spark and the catalyst in our marriage that really helps keep me going. We also have one daughter, Jennifer and we’re very proud of her. She received her degree in Business in Fort Wayne and is serving in retail sales in Florida.
Saved in January of 1958 in Huntington, I grew in the Lord, only to grow distant from Him after school and some higher education. After serving four years with the Air Force, I came out and eventually rededicated my life to Christ.
I have served at Bible Baptist Church in Fort Wayne as Youth Director, College and Career leader, Worship and Music Director and also worked to direct their Bus Ministry for awhile. I also taught Sunday School, took some administrative courses and some doctrinal studies from Baptist Bible College as well as some comprehensive studies from what was then called Fort Wayne Bible College (now Taylor University).
Bea and I felt called to minister in other churches as part of the growing process and eventually, the Lord lead us here to FBCNH. We were well received and have been blessed to be part of a church that we can fully align with. Serving in the Sunday School, heading up the Sound Equipment and Music Ministry and now as a newly placed Associate Pastor overseeing Education and Visitation and working closely with Pastor Dave to assist in total church support, this has been a powerful strengthening factor for both Bea and myself. At present, I oversee the Worship Team and for the most part, serve as their musician for Worship. We are also blessed with an excellent pianist, Ruthie Muldoon, who is a very dynamic musician and serves well.
The valuable characteristics of First Baptist that have been the most cohesive of all for us consist of several things. First, the immense love that people here have for other people and the Lord. I’ve seen people welcomed here regardless of social status, color, or appearance. Second, I worship with people who give and give, not just financially, but of themselves. Thirdly, I am in full agreement with the way the Southern Baptist Association supports our missionaries, giving a rock solid percentage to missions and not forcing missionaries to come home every four years or so and raise new support. And there are other blessed areas of the church I could list, but I just want to say that it is GOOD to serve here. Thank you, Jesus!
It is a privilege serving together with the entire Leadership team and hope to do so until the Lord comes or calls me home.
